This year we made only five movies. Must have been to all of our busy schedules. I believe that was caused by this horrible economy. People have to work second jobs, etc.
"The Gospel Overload" has a great message and is funny. It should be a popular tool for pastors use in illustrating the wrong way to witness.
It's the first time my daughter, Jackie, acted in one. I was so proud and so happy that she is interested in working with us. She actually started working as Script Supervisor on "First Love" and "The Playground." Welcome to the team, Jackie.

The Playground

On a hot summer's day we shot this video. The heat fried my brain and I made a mistake in the menu of the camera and forgot to turn on the "Wind Screen" feature so the audio has some wind (rumble) sound in it. My bad. Other that that it's a cute video staring Freddie Olmos who did a terrific job. Lot's of lines to memorize and lots of hours working. Thanks Freddie and crew.

First Love

Postponed for a month because of the winter weather hanging on, we changed locations which saved us money and gave us greater convenience during the shoot. Our two actresses Kristin and Leslie made the movie what it is and brought to the screen Hollywood style performances. Great work girls.
We are sorry to say goodbye to Kristin and John (two of our best actors) who are moving to Tennessee. We wish them the best and Gods speed. We hope and pray that some day Radiance can afford to fly them out for another sermon illustration or at least for the feature we plan on doing one of these days.
First Love is one of the most powerful messages we have produced since our beginning four years ago. It was very personal for me as well.

Mabel and the little boy are new actors from the Sacramento Actors Studio that we got our last three actors for Fish Dootie. They did a great job and we are very pleased.
We used my house again and as before and ever since we bought it, we've used our EZFX Jib Arm. I can't stress what a great tool that is to our productions. I wish we had it for our first fifteen movies.

Fish Dootie is the inspiration from a true story that Pastor Tony Cunningham of Radiant Life Church in South Sacramento preached on. The incident took place in his home with him and two of his daughters and the illustration was used by him twice in 2008 and therefore seemed like a good candidate for us to make into a Sermon Illustration Movie.
Also, the house that my wife and I moved into recently had a kitchen area that was perfect for filming. It was almost like a studio set up and worked great.
All three actors were new to our team. All came from a local Actors Studio in Sacramento, the same school a couple of our regular actors attend.

"America's Last Option"

"America's Last Option" is a documentary that One Way Productions and Radiance Creative Communications is producing for Dr. Mike Kingsley, Sr. Pastor of "Latter Glory World Missions." Although it is being produced on a very small budget — it's a BIG message and will reach the entire United States by way of DVD sales. Through Dr. Kingsley's contacts with many powerful and well known TV evangelists and the use of a good publicist, this DVD will be promoted in a huge way so it can reach the majority of Christian homes throughout America. It's message is timely and the "mission" that God gave to Dr. Kingsley is vital to the survival of our country as we know it and love it.
I am proud and excited to be a part of this movement that is sweeping this country through many sectors of the Christian faith and to know that this work we are doing will be the catalyst to spark the transformation and revival that our wonderful country needs before the evil forces destroy it forever.
The above "promo" or "trailer" is more of a teaser, because the little over 4 minute video cannot come close to explaining the documentary's powerful message.
The DVD should be out sometime in mid 2010.

A testament to all of the Christian motorcycle clubs, organizations and ministries. This sermon Illustration reminds us that God is in control as He sends unlikely angels to the rescue. She fears for her two little girls and herself because of past experience. But you can't "judge a book by its cover" as God uses servants of the Lord to not only help in her time of need but to possibly sway her future salvation.
We had another great time filming with our fellow servants in the Lord — our biker friends through John Lujan. This time Johnny was our lead biker in the film and it was Johnny's idea for the script.
It was a long day for most of us including Gil Rodela and I, who traveled together to the location out on Old Sacramento Road between Jackson Hwy. and Latrobe Road. We were there from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. But I'm not complaining. I love a challenge, which it certainly was, but at the same time exciting and fun.
As of our Godfellas shoot — we had no "behind the scene" video taken. I pray someone from our group will buy a HD consumer camera for about $400 to $500. Our ministry would buy one to replace the broken one, but finances are tight because of our purchase of the new Jib Arm, and money from sermonspice are down due to the economy. But God is good and He will provide and I trust Him for the next filming.
Look for our next video at the end of January, 2010 called "Fish Dootie."

The Parking Space

After almost 4 months without filming, we finally shot "The Parking Space." A couple of months ago, there were so many of us in our ministry/Kingdom business that were going through STUFF that it was decided to wait until the next scheduled shoot and cancel "The Soldier" that would not have been ready for principal photography in August and replace it with the "Parking" script, giving us more time to regroup and be ready to do it justice.
It felt really good to be filming again. Four months is too long between shoots. I hope and pray that we don't go through that again.

A Dream Realized

"GODFELLAS" is finally completed. What a joy working on this project. I, and everyone else believes this is one of, if not the, best movie we've made so far.
I love the moving making process. Godfellas started like this: Since the beginning of this ministry, I've wanted to make a sermon illustration movie in the "Mafia" genre. Last year (2008) while Pastor Timothy and I were traveling together to scout the location for "Two Wolves" Timothy came up with the idea of the "unforgiving servant" in Matthew 18. I agreed with him that it was a perfect parable to do. I then challenged Clarice, my writing partner, to come up with a basic script idea. She did. It was wonderful and only needed a little tweaking by me and the writing team. More creative input was added by the actors at the "table read." Then while out on the shoot, again the actors added little physical newances. Then the challenge of editing, music score and effects was my challenge.

This idea from Pastor Timothy turned out to be our quickest production to date. After the pre-production work, it was shot in about 2 1/2 hours at Timothy's house with his wife, Tara, and his three girls. We all enjoyed some breakfast (featuring Timothy's famous chocolate chip pancakes, bacon and scrambled eggs) and then the pandemonium began — Action girls — then there was screaming and running...
Sorry, but no behind the scenes pictures yet. When I get the disk I will be back to edit this post.

I'm looking forward to our next project to be filmed on April 18 and 25. Using our new Jib Arm (crane), we will be shooting at Vinces restaurant in Elk Grove and then the following Saturday in Old Elk Grove, which will double for Chicago. This is a mafia genre that I hope everyone will love — being entertained plus packing a power message based on the parable "The Unforgiving Servant."

Two Wolves

What we thought would be a simple project, turned out to be quite challenging. Our first Saturday up at a ranch near Grass Valley got rained out. We got it in the can on the following Saturday night by the grace of God. Thankfully we were working with a great group of native Americans, who without their help and support with actors, authentic wardrobe, horses and location could not have been made.

The Picnic — our biggest challenge yet!

I've waited a long time to make the "Biker" movie. It was the most exciting and challenging shoot so far and well worth it. It is very funny and has a great message. It no doubt will be our most entertaining video to date. First and foremost we put God and His message top priority. In doing so He watches over our productions from beginning to end. We can see His hand upon our ministry because we are faithful to Him and therefore He is faithful to us. I am not going to describe what it is about — you will find out by watching it. The brain child of Pastor Timothy Stewart is now posted up on sermonspice.com for download and is also designed as the online commercial for Radiance Creative Communications.
"TOAST or How I learned to stop hating and to love spreading the Gospel" was inserted into our schedule when doerstv.com requested a commercial of our ministry to put on their web site. I give all the credit to Pastor Timothy for the idea of taking a short one minute sermon illustration and tacking on our commercial information on the end. It turned out great and is very funny and to the point. We believe it will do well on sermon spice when we get a banner advertising it. There are so many videos on sermon spice that any video will get lost unless we promote it. You can check it out and all of our videos on www.filmsforchristians.com. That is a great way to find out about our ministry, etc.
Toast was shot in a few hours at night at my house, using my kitchen which was also use for the interior kitchen in "The Letter."
George Dunham is our star and he was perfect for the part. You will agree with me after you see TOAST.

The Heart — Touching and Poignant

We finished shooting "The Heart" in about 11 hours. It required 4 scenes shot at 2 locations. By the graces of God and only God was this project completed. The enemy fought us all the way. I personally get excited when this happens because then I know that our sermon illustration will be a powerful one. One the enemy doesn't want made.
Without Nancy Kendall's clout at Kaiser Permanente South Sacramento, this project would not have been possible. We had to have a hospital to shoot in and up to the last couple of weeks before the scheduled shoot, we didn't have a location. God is good and made a way. He has done that on all of our movies, this one especially. A special thanks to Nancy.
It was a 2 day shoot and was completed on Saturday, July 26. One day because of our top notch production team and the incredible talent of our actors.
I am writing this Sunday night, August 17, the night before our Wrap Party (August 18) which is at Nancy's house starting at 6:30 pm. Thanks again to Nancy Kendall for her love for the Lord and hosting our get together. I'm sure it will be a blessing for her.

After a 12+ hour shoot on May, 24, 2008, we had all the needed footage except for the opening car scene, which we got a few days later. This is our second "drama" and after post production it's clocked in at just over 6 minutes. All of us involved feel this is the most powerful yet and know it is the right time for this contemporary story because it deals with issues that are prevalent today. It's timing could not be better. Therefore, we feel that it will do very well in regards to the download sales.

Left overs is a humorous look at how some Christians prioritize God, especially in their prayer time. Gil Rodela plays the father (his third appearance — the other two are "The Whole World Stinks!" and "A Better Fit." Good work Gil. Theresa Martin plays the mother. Theresa has been with our crew since the 2nd video and has appeared as an extra in "The Letter" and "Trading Faces." As always Theresa is the consummate professional. The two teenagers were played by newcomers Vincent LaMar and Marcel Morris. Great work guys.
Our next project is called "Has Your Bible Verse Changed?" and will be shot on May 24. Kristin Klonowski is returning to play the mom in this touching and moving piece. Kristin is a tremendous actress and we are very fortunate to have her involved with us again. You will remember her as Ruth in "The Letter." We're having an audition on April 26 to cast for the boy part (age 6-8). The future looks bright and I am extremely encouraged with our up coming films: "The Heart" scheduled for shooting in July and "The Picnic" scheduled for shooting in September. Look for more posts on these subjects and more.
